I Love Beets

Snow Storm

It started snowing at around 3 AM and continued all day, eventually turning to freezing rain and sleet. I slept well the night before (thankfully) and woke up energetically. I skipped over to the kitchen and made some coffee. Zach and I leisurely drank the coffee together in bed, all nestled up under the covers, kicking our feet in joy.

After making myself a hearty breakfast of Kodiak protein pancakes with slices of banana, I successfully convinced Zach to accompany me outside. We thus ventured into the elements. IMG_2616

We bundled up and trudged through the snow to Clockface Coffee for some more caffeine. We then traipsed across the fallen powder over to St. Andrews Church, where we helped shovel snow for over an hour. It was my first time shoveling in my life, funnily enough. At some point, I trekked over to the hardware store to purchase a sled.

We eventually finished shoveling snow right before the Spanish Mass began. We slid / hopped / jumped over to Owl's Head Park, which was already teeming with parents and their ecstatic children. The snow was already 8-10 inches deep at this point during the day. Zach pushed me from the top of the hill on the sled. I didn't make it very far; the snow was too powdery. We attempted a couple of failed runs, after which we called it.

We returned to our apartment, shaking off the ice from our scarves and boots in the entryway. The rest of the day was the perfect snowstorm day ever.

We watched the Pats vs. Broncos game

I made a Hot Toddy with Bulleit Bourbon Whiskey

We cuddled on the couch with Duckana

For dinner we enjoyed a whole roast chicken with vegetables

Before turning in the for night, I watched Nora Ephron's "Sleepless in Seattle." I came to appreciate it much more than I had the first time I watched it, which was a few years ago. Maybe I have a greater appreciation for the intensity of a connection you crave and experience with someone with whom you want to spend the rest of your life.
